Corofin into fourth consecutive county football final

image preview

Corofin have been the most consistent club side at senior level in Galway football for the past 20 years. They have won the Frank Fox Cup on 10 occasions since 1991 and they will be hoping to continue that rich winning vein when they play Salthill, Mountbellew/Moylough or Tuam Stars in the 2011 final. Despite the backlog of games, the final is still pencilled in for October 23.

Milltown will be a match for struggling Corofin

The first of this year’s county football semi-finals takes place this Sunday (4.15pm) at Tuam Stadium between Milltown and Corofin.

Club football championship resumes this weekend

Fourteen of the 16 teams left in the county championship are scheduled to be in action this weekend. There is a double header at Pearse Stadium on Saturday evening with the other five games fixed for Sunday. The Cortoon Shamrocks and Micheal Breathnachs fixture cannot go ahead as Mountbellew/Moylough continue with their ill thought out appeal process. They have been beaten twice on the field of play this season already and they should just move on from those defeats. Four of Sunday’s games are down as double headers at Corofin and Tuam, with Carraroe and Annaghdown on in Pearse Stadium. There will be extra time in any of the games that end in a draw.

Galway East - a change is gonna come?

If there was ever a constituency which defined the term ‘boringly predictable’ it was certainly Galway East, a place even more beholden to repeating patterns and traditions than its sister electoral area Galway West.

Competition: A Year till Sunday released on DVD

Nobody really likes to be reminded of the rapid passing of time. When Pat Comer made his wonderful behind the scenes documentary, A year till Sunday on Galway’s All-Ireland victory of 1998, DVDs were as rare as hen’s teeth.
